Ut Pictura Poesis: Divinidades marinas (Proteo, Nereo y Tritón) Literatura y representación en la cerámica griega del siglo VI a. C. en el Ática

Resumen

El propósito de este trabajo es discutir acerca de la relación texto e imagen en algunas representaciones de divinidades
marinas en la cerámica ática del siglo VI a.C. En un contexto cultural donde predomina la difusión oral, esta relación ofrece matices diversos. Las divinidades marinas en cuestión son Proteo, Nereo y Tritón. Los dos primeros tienen la facultad de metamorfosearse, el tercero es un híbrido y los tres han tenido
variada fortuna literaria. Nereo y Tritón están relacionados con el héroe Heracles y sólo de estos últimos se han conservado figuraciones sobre la superficie de los vasos. La sociedad griega del siglo VI a.C. ha construido sus paradigmas iconográficos y sus receptores (usuarios) comprendían y apreciaban las figuraciones pintadas sobre las superficies de la cerámica. Nuestro desafío es indagar el sentido de estas representaciones, su relación con los textos y el ambiente histórico donde se constituyeron.

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to discuss the relationship between text and image in some representations of marine deities in the
Atic pottery of the 6th century BC. In a cultural context where orality predominates, this relationship offers diverse nuances. The marine
divinities in question are Proteus, Nereus and Triton. The first two have the ability of metamorphose, the third is an hybrid and have had diverse literary fortune. Nereus and Triton are related to the hero Heracles, and only of the latter have representation on the surfaces of the vessels survived. Greek society
in the 6th century BC built his iconographics paradigms, the recipients (usuaries) understood and appreciate the pottery representations.
Our challenge is to investigate the meaning of this figurations, the relationship with the text and the historical environment where they were constituted.
