Resumen

El artículo aborda el conjunto de 58 obras sobre el Brasil, que se encuentra en la Biblioteca de Xul Solar en Buenos Aires, y relativiza el interés que el artista habría tenido por el país vecino. El dato más interesante aparece cuando se verifica que un 60% del llamado Núcleo Brasil se compone de obras publicadas en las décadas de 1930 y 1940, cuando los intelectuales se dedicaron al "problema racial" brasileño y a la cuestión de la "lengua nacional". La conclusión esque la utopía de Xul de la invención de la nueva lengua o neocriollo y de la construcción del "nuevo hombre" que América Latina daría al mundo aproximó las indagaciones del artista a las interpretaciones del Brasil mestizo, parí passu, junto con la cuestión de la unidad de la lengua. Más que llevado por un interés en sí hacia el Brasil, Xul estudió lo "local" en la cultura de América Latina, para extraer de ello elementos destinados a la construcción de su mundo universal.

Abstract

The article discusses the set of 58 works on Brazil, which appears in Library of X ul Solar, Buenos Aires, thus regarding the interest that the artist would have the neighboring country. The most compelling fact is that 60% of it Brazil collection, called Núcleo Brasil, consist of works published in the 1930s and 1940s, when intellectuals dedicated themselves to the brazilian “race problem” and the question of “national language”. It is concluded that the utopia of Xul on the invention of new language –the neocriollo– and the building the “new man”, who Latin America would give to the world, came near artist’s inqueries to the interpretations of interbred Brazil, pari passu with the question of the unity of language. More than a simple interest on Brazil, Xul studied the “local” in Latin American culture, to draw from it elements to the construction of its universal world.
